About

Torus Research was founded by Ristan Greer. Ristan completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in mathematics, before realising that veterinary science was her niche, completing her BVSc in 1979 at the University of Queensland. She worked largely in her own mixed small and large animal practice before retiring from clinical work around 2014. While in practice, she became interested in research, completing her MVSc, and PhD in Cystic Fibrosis at the University of Queensland School of Medicine. Over this time, driven by the need to design projects and analyse data, she developed a keen interest in clinical epidemiology and applied biostatistics, attaining Membership in the Epidemiology Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2004. Through the 2000’s Ristan taught at the UQ School of Medicine and School of Veterinary Science, and then became Senior Epidemiologist at Mater Research Institute in Brisbane for several years. She now consults, and is keen to promote the need for clinicians to undertake their own research, and make clinical epidemiology and biostatistics ‘make sense’ and be user-friendly for clinicians.
